How long will it take to get my mic(s)?

In Canada you should get your mic in about 5 days. US orders take about a week, as do orders to Europe. You can add a day or two to Australia. Please see the following page to find out how to track your order.

Where are your mics made?

We work on the initial design concept, specs and circuit tweaks in Winnipeg where we also do final QC. Assembly and production engineering is done in two different plants in China. The plants are new, modern, privately owned companies and good places to work. They are each some of the most technically up to date mic production facilities in the world with ISO9001 quality assurance certification and CE certification. Both plants have the latest testing equipment including large anechoic chambers. They also feature the newest PC board fabrication equipment, CNC mills and positive pressure clean rooms for hand assembly of capsules. Several large well-known microphone companies use the same facilities to manufacture some of their models.

What if I don't like my mic?

You have 30 days to try out your mic. If you don't like it -- for any reason -- return it in good condition and we will refund your purchase price. No questions asked.

Does anyone famous use your mics?

Kel mics have appeared on projects by Grammy winners in many genres. Nashville legends such as Bil VornDick (multiple Grammy winner in country folk and roots) use our mics every day. Greg Wells has used Kel mics on top 10 hits from artists such as Katy Perry, One Republic and others. Peter J. Moore (of Cowboy Junkies Trinity Sessions fame) has multiple HM2Ds and HM3Cs. Studio Piccolo a world class multi-room facility in Montreal (Sting, Alanis Morrisette, Celine Dion) has numerous Kel mics and they see regular use by co-owner Dominique Messier (drummer for Celine Dion) in his own productions and on the road. In other words, world class artists, engineers and recording studios are using Kel mics to get unique, world class sounds -- and you can too.

What if my mic breaks?

All Kel mics have one-year warranties. If anything goes wrong with the mic, send it in and we'll fix or replace it -- no questions asked.

Why do you only have single-pattern solid state mics?

Our goal is to produce mics with the best price to performance ratio in the industry. Other companies keep prices down by compromising on quality and making use of cheap transformers, mystery tubes, gritty ceramic capacitors and dodgy quality control. Our approach is to strip out features that are not commonly needed in small studios (such as multiple patterns) thereby cutting down on the number of parts needed. We also avoid tubes because good tube circuits need high quality power supplies -- which are expensive. We use simple, proven solid state designs and build them with good quality parts for smooth sound. You will not miss the cheap tube sound. Every mic is tested before leaving the factory -- not "batch tested". You get the right balance of price and performance in what will hopefully be a musically useful production tool you'll use for decades to come.
